miHoYo

TthECH OTAKUS SAVE THE WORLD

For those who are interested in open-world rpg games, you must've heard, if not started playing, miHoYo's newest work: Genshin Impact. It is a big hit, around friends, within the circle, over the media. Well, of course, this is not the first successful work they produced.

Established by three passionate college students from Shanghai in 2011, miHoYo grew like a rocket. From the first simple jet-pac game FlyMe2theMoon (you know it's miHoYo with these crazy capitalizations lol) to today's top fantanstic Genshin Impact, miHoyo has not only improved hugely on game makings, but also creating side branches such as anime, manga, light novels, figures, and etc.

I have been a fan of miHoYo since 2012, when their second game, (first game after registering the company), Honkai Gakuen (the first one, not 2) came out. I was immediately drawn by the authentic anime style of art, and has played every single of their games since then. miHoYo is truly a shining star in the Chinese gaming industry, and their creativities, techniques, ambitions, efforts will never be something to be neglected. Big respect.

Genshin Impact

For those who don't know, Genshin Impact is a free-to-play, open-world, anime style RPG game. The story takes place in the fantansy world of Teyvat, and well, I'm not going to explain too much of the story plot here, it will definitely be more satisfing to play the unknowns.

What I love about the game is the quality of character design and voice overs. The characters, as you can see, are very anime. This require a lot of details on the model, however, impressively it doesn't affect the smoothness of characters' movements. The game is also voiced in four languages: Chinese, Japanese, English, and Korean, and each is of the greatest quality you could expect.

Many would say that the game is really similar to Zelda-Breath of the wild in terms of motion mechanisms and monster design. I'm a fan of both. And I'm not saying this is wrong---there are a lot of similar elements which I think miHoYo definitely used BOTW as a reference. Nonetheless, there are special parts to Genshin itself: a brand-new enchanting story line, special elemental fighting system, the gatcha system, friend system, multi-platform....and, the most important part: anime-ly like :)))

Honkiai Impact 3rd

Before Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact is the game that leads miHoYo to open up the global market. It was first released in China in 2016, and by 2018, it has fan bases in Japan, Europe, US, Southeast Asia, and other places worldwide. It is famous for it's 3D action on mobiles, and ofc, great story line connecting to miHoYo's previous games and character designs.

One thing that I think it's notable is that Honkai Impact has a lot of mini-games or side stories that contains historical Chinese or anime reference. Besides gaming, it's also a fun read ^^
